How fees work

Here is how a visit is paid for if you don't have insurance, and how it changes if you do. No figure on this site stands in for the cost in writing you get before anything starts.

  • If you pay yourself

At Mezquite Dental, fees depend on your family's income and how many people live in your home. With those we place you on a level, and before anything starts you see in writing what each step costs. You pay at the visit.

    • A level set by income and family size

    • The cost of each step, in writing

    • Paid at the visit

What to bring to your first visit
  • A cost in writing, before anything starts

You can ask for a cost in writing before any treatment. If you're paying without insurance, we give it to you in advance: when you book or when you ask. It is a good faith estimate of the visit and of each step we expect.

    • In writing, before treatment

    • Each step and its cost at your level

    • You take it home before you decide

  • Dental insurance, Medicaid and CHIP

If you have dental insurance, give us your plan's name and, before the visit, we confirm how your case would work. With Medicaid or CHIP, call us before you come: we confirm whether we see patients with your coverage, and we promise nothing until it's confirmed. What each plan covers is the plan's decision.

    • Dental plans through a job: it depends on the plan

    • Medicaid and CHIP: we confirm before the visit

  • How we check your benefits

If you have a plan, you give us its name and your card number when you book. We check what it covers before you come and tell you what we find; you decide whether to go ahead.

    • We check it before the visit

    • You decide with the information in hand

  • Receipts for reimbursement

If you ask, after each visit we give you an itemized receipt. You can send it to a plan that reimburses dentists outside its network. The plan decides whether it pays and how much.

    • Itemized, if you ask

    • With the procedure codes

  • What the first visit includes

A conversation about what worries you, an exam of your teeth and gums, X-rays only if the dentist needs them, and the cost in writing for any treatment. It takes about an hour. The health history is filled in on the private portal or at the clinic.

    • About an hour

    • X-rays only if needed

Questions about the fee levels

What if my income changes?

Let us know. We review your level when something changes at home, and explain it before your next visit.

Can I see the list of levels?

Yes. You can ask for it in writing at the front desk or by phone.

Does my whole family go on the same level?

The level is worked out from the household's income and how many people live in it, so it applies to the family.

Ask before you come

Call or message us on WhatsApp and we'll explain your level and what to bring. Please don't include health details in the message.
